What a difference a smile makes.
Ever see a smile on someone's face and it changing your mood from that moment forward?
Even smiles from strangers can have an affect on your mindset.
Smiles are contagious.
They happen naturally when seeing someone we like, someone who makes us happy.
It is quite the natural response to seeing or hearing something which touches us deeply.
It is the simplest and easiest form of charity we have available to us.
Ever notice how the eyes shine when joy is behind a smiling face?
Perhaps we've seen phony smiles, but what about those that were genuine and reached us?
Forced smiles are quite uncomfortable for both the giver and the viewer.
But how amazing when a smile is genuine, when light is shining from the heart through the eyes and through the smile.
The overwhelming evidence of God, His creation, His providence and seeing His prescience all about us in the world bring a contentment that is difficult to put into words.
When I see my dear wife, her beautiful face, I cannot help but smile and be amazed at His handiwork in her beauty.
My wife's smiles meets mine and we seem to beam like flood lights.
When I run into dear friends of mine, men and women I care for, our smiles cannot help but encourage one another.
“Grey skies are going to clear up, put on a happy face!”
A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.
Light in a messenger’s eyes brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.
- Proverbs 15: 13, 30
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you
and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.
- Numbers 6: 24-26
