Eat Like You Mean It

I don't recall Christ mentioning the repeating of rituals in the Gospel, do you?  Why then do people think they are having a meal or breaking bread with they eat a token piece of unleavened bread and some juice in their religious services?  Is this what Christ established and started?  I am still looking for that part in the Scriptures.

One of the things He did repeat was breaking bread ( having and sharing a meal ) with others regardless of their title, standing and condition.

He gave the 'meal' a deeper meaning.

He showed it was not simply 'eating' like we all have to eat in order to stay alive.

He broke the social hierarchy of class by eating with beggars and wealthy alike.

He broke the economic status when accepting invitations to dine with the rich ( political and religious ) and accepting invitations to spend several days with the poor / commoners.

He broke social stigmas when breaking bread with both the sinner and the ridiculously religious.

He broke political ideologies when eating with the foreigner ( considered today to be the "illegal alien" or savage or uncivilized barbarian ) and the native countryman ( citizen or persons of same ethnic background or political view ).

When is the last time you saw a rich person having a meal with a beggar?

When is the last time you saw your favorite pastor sharing a meal with someone outside their sphere of influence or someone not a member of their church?

When is the last time you, reading this right now, had stepped out of the comfort zone of religion, of society's expectation and did what was on your heart to do?
