Love Keeps No Record Of Wrongs

“You had potential” wrote a long lost friend recently. I had injured him deeply 15 years ago. I wonder if he has yet to forgive me.

We had gone on vacation and I trespassed greatly against his conscience and God's Way. I had lost my mind and acted out of character. I rebelled. It was disgusting. He witnessed my rebellion and I believe my actions profoundly affected his faith.

I was a 'leader' at the church we both attended, beginning to be behind the podium. This group had devolved to put their faith into others; depending on men for strength. I too misplaced my faith in God and had it in myself, my strength, and the strength of those around me. Once my surroundings had changed, I justified my actions and pursued women during our two and a half week vacation in Asia. I was ashamed of my actions. I became someone else; my old self. Unbelievable now considering where my heart had been.

Returning from the trip he pretty much dismissed me from his life. I wrote him a letter of apology, hoping to hear a response from him. Nothing. I didn't expect the friendship to return as before, but at least acknowledgment of my forgiveness plea. The one time thereafter I saw him, he looked at me as if I had leprosy.

The church group focused on self-righteousness over grace and love, aiming to physically root out sin instead of allowing God's love and grace to move and reveal the hearts. I misunderstood God's grace.

My backsliding found me leaving this group shortly after this incident. I anathematized myself.

So recently when we communicated via email, I expressed how I missed his friendship. His third/final response stung me as if I was reliving that episode 15 years ago.

Ready To Spread Your Wings?

Who told the caterpillar that one day it would become a butterfly?

Would the caterpillar believe that after some time of slowly crawling around eating green leaves that one day it would take to the sky in majestic flight, going from flower to flower sipping on nectar?

Is there a caterpillar School of Pupa where it learns how to become a butterfly?

Is there a Chrysalis University?

Where do these interesting little creatures learn how to live?

I know, we have a word called “instinct” which is supposed to answer these questions.

But does that word's definition truly bring understanding to how and why the world works around us?

Yet, who 'programmed' the caterpillar to do as it does?

What if someone were to tell you that the human life is similar to that of the caterpillar?

Would you believe the notion that after some time crawling around and feeding on things you considered 'food,' you were to one day go through a 'mutation' of sorts?

Would you believe that a change was to come over and about you?

Would you believe that you would one day become something very different from who and what you are at this moment?

The spiritual journey of the Way is such a transformation!

Some of us who once crawled around with sticky things pointing out of us (like a caterpillar), one day broke out of a shell and took flight!

We spread our wings and became very different from our prior selves.

We even began to feed on very different 'food.'

A new freedom of movement was realized, not restrained to the former and typical surroundings, but now being able to move about and through all kinds of situations.

Would you believe if you were told that THIS is the purpose of Life?

Seeing The Light

I wonder what went through Paul's heart and mind those three days he was without sight. I could only imagine what thoughts and memories came up as he recalled his prior opinions of Yeshua and His followers. I'm sure he remembered how he may have considered the message a heresy, maybe a blasphemous teaching originating from somewhere else other than God' heart.

I can only imagine his emotional state when he considered his approval of what happened to Stephen. I'm sure what he did hear of Stephen's message was now ringing in his ears as he tried to recall each nuance and manner which Stephen recounted Israel's dramatic history with God Almighty. Perhaps Paul even thought of Jonah after the three days of blindness were over.

We can read of a few times Paul saw a vision or had a revelation when God directly communicated with him. I am sure there were many many more instances of Paul receiving private revelation, only the few specific ones being published to detail the necessary message.

I consider the fear Paul may have felt seeing such a vision and hearing the Voice. I'm sure he also feared being led by the hand towards those he had considered his enemies, apostates, worshippers of a false god (what he likely believed prior)? I'm sure his heart melted, along with what may have been cataracts from his eyes, when realizing how much God loved him despite his confused heart when Ananias called him brother. His world was turned upside down. And he gave thanks to Almighty God for emptying him of his misplaced zeal.

Now Paul was the hunted, not the hunter.

Now his life was in danger.

He became the enemy of the state.

Yet he praised His Holy Name for being chosen by God!

Do More Parts Mean More Car?

The message of Yeshua as Lord hasn't changed, despite the inclusion or exclusion of certain words.

The minutia riddled debate that looks at revelation as a mystical, mathematical, magical spell that must be heard or repeated using certain words or particular phrases, as if God is a magician and His Way is a sorcerer's spell, is quite vacant of God's wisdom.

Failing to look in between the lines, one is caught in man's snare of logical conundrums. As if only geniuses know God. Look at how many 'geniuses' believe in God!

Does God need man's logic to perform what He wills? Does God need man to understand how He created the world by invoking His Word in order for a man to accept that he himself exists, let alone that God exists?

The battle of words and hypotheses are endless. Much how "I love you" and "you are the apple of my eye" and "I have you in my heart" and "you mean the world to me" are four different phrases having different words, they speak the same message. That is, if anyone's heart, eyes and ears are open to the message.

The belief that any particular religious text is perfect, or is untouched and unaltered because a man was puffed up into believing that what he repeated to his followers was from the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob: only those who fail to seek God with all their hearts believe such a fantasy. They place their faith in identity, heritage, in the strengths of men and in human arguments of logic rather than accepting the reality that God always works outside of man's purview and logic.

“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are My ways higher than your ways
and My thoughts than your thoughts.”

- Isaiah 55: 9

Learning The Lessons

What happens when you/someone don't/doesn't get the customary cup(s) of coffee in the morning? How about that typical happy hour drink, glass of wine or beers in front of the television after work? Or simply the decaffeinated/non-alcoholic tea/beverage to warm the tummy in the morning or calm the nerves in the evening?

Whether the drink is stimulating or not, there is something about the expectation of getting what you want. There is also a lesson to learn from not receiving what is typically expected. How does our character revolt, or adjust, or deal without that which is expected but not received? When patterns or things around us change, do we change along with them? Or do we throw temper tantrums, take drastic measures, justify or excuse our attitude?

Recently I've been without something I am accustomed to having. It is not a drink or anything of that sort. I won't go into exactly what it is, but what I would like to point out is that my character, attitude and emotions have been drastically challenged due to this change. It is the expectation and the wait which has brought forth the character lessons; exposing my weakness as a human being.

Growing up my mom would take me along with her when she went shopping. I would always pick some new toy for her to buy me, but she wasn't always willing to comply with my wishes. I would sometimes throw a fit, cry hysterically, make a scene, anything to get her to cave into my will. Sometimes out of embarrassment and to diffuse my bad temperament, she would simply give in. Other times, we would take a trip to the bathroom and I would emerge shortly afterwards with rosy cheeks on both ends and an adjusted and quieted temper.

Discipline.

Use Words To Raise Humanity

Have you noticed the amount of fantastic animal videos on youtube? You can see dogs, cats, birds and many other domesticated animals doing all kinds of tricks and funny stuff. Have you seen how some typically opposed animals can get along, seemingly to 'love' one another's companionship?

For a dog to get along peacefully with a cat is not too unusual nowadays, for people have been raising both for some time. How about when a cat gets along with a bird, and the bird doesn't fear being eaten by the cat? The cat's 'instinct' or 'programming' is to eat animals like the bird. Is this something unusual on its own or because of an exterior influence? Surely the animal owners/managers have taught and trained the animals to get along. We can find a vast array of animals getting along who would otherwise be treating each other as the next meal.

There is a manner in which these pet owners speak and direct their animals. If animals can be trained to get along using words, why is it difficult for human beings to get along? The human's desire for family and equitable society is a common interest. Why can't these interests unite instead of divide humans? Isn't someone properly raising people to be get along with other people?

The dog is similar to the cat in many ways, yet typically the dog pursues the cat. The bird is very different from the cat, with the bird typically becoming food for the cat. Are people so different as the bird is to the cat that people cannot get along? Must one human devour another human?

Humans can choose the proper words and intentions to unify common interests, training others with words to get along like these animals examples.

We're more than animals.

A Chasm Of Difference

I remember writing a paper on the likeness and difference between Buddha's sermon on the mount and Yeshua's sermon on the mount. The likenesses outweigh the difference, despite the wording being different, for a message can be forwarded using different words.

The difference, however, was night and day when closely considered.

Buddha's aim was to work on oneself, looking internally; serving your own needs. The by-product being that others might be impacted by your example, and/or your deeds. Pouring into oneself what one learns. Basically self-centered and self-focused.

Yeshua's message is to serve others, looking externally at the people around you; serving the needs of others. The by-product being that you are internally impacted because one is not focused on oneself, but on others. Pouring out of oneself what one learns. Basically self-less and self-denial.

Focus is key.

Focus determines the process and reveals the truth. Some argue that both 'philosophies' arrive at the same product/goal/destination.

Buddhist philosophy speaks of reincarnation; a recycling of man's spirit.

The message of Christ speaks of each man's responsibility for his soul's destination; a once in a lifetime life experience.

The philosophy may justify class/caste systems, placing hope in another flesh life experience at a 'higher' class/caste.

The message speaks purpose in your current position in this life, placing hope in a fleshless eternal life.

Buddhist philosophy says the notion of 'god' is within, and there is nothing without other than universal consciousness. This seems close to the truth. It is a bit contradictory not acknowledging an entity greater than self while acknowledging a collective consciousness ( which is an entity greater than self).

The message speaks God is in all and through all, God is without for those who are separated. They're spiritually separated due to disobedience to the message: Yeshua is Lord.

Further Beyond Words

To fathom the invisible is quite an extravagant attempt.

Perhaps the source descriptions can grant an insight into the invisible.

Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.

- Genesis 1: 26-27

[ “God created mankind in His own image” ]

The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him.

- Colossians 1: 15-16

[ “Son is the image of the invisible God” ]

Above the vault over their heads was what looked like a throne of lapis lazuli, and high above on the throne was a figure like that of a man. I saw that from what appeared to be His waist up He looked like glowing metal, as if full of fire, and that from there down He looked like fire; and brilliant light surrounded Him. Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around Him.

This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. When I saw it, I fell facedown, and I heard the voice of one speaking.

- Ezekiel 1: 26-28

[ “this was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord” ]

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Yeshua:

Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage; rather, He made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

- Philippians 2: 5-7

[ “He made Himself... in human likeness” ]

Run On High Octane

Looking at the material world is a decent way to understand the invisible.

Let us consider:

It could be said God is 'like' water.

Water (H2O) is the most abundant compound on Earth's surface, covering 70 percent of the planet. In nature, water exists in liquid, solid, and gaseous states. It is in dynamic equilibrium between the liquid and gas states at standard temperature and pressure. At room temperature, it is a tasteless and odorless liquid, nearly colorless with a hint of blue. Many substances dissolve in water and it is commonly referred to as the universal solvent.

Regardless of the particular 'state' of water, its basic elements never change: H2O.

Are we not all made up of more than half water? Some estimates say up to 90%!

Let us become more 'like water' and less like anything else, shall we?

Looking at a vehicle, let us consider its components. You usually don't see the engine. The engine is the 'heart.' Without a good engine, the vehicle is useless. Without fuel, the engine won't run and the vehicle won't move.

Are we not like a vehicle? Our engine is our heart. God's love 'drives' us. His Spirit compels us to act, like fuel running through an engine making the vehicle move.

We can see God working through mankind like fuel makes a vehicle go. The vehicle is the singularity. The heart/engine of that vehicle Christ. In Christ God's heart, love, grace, comfort, forgiveness, mercy and purpose is revealed. The Holy Spirit is the fuel, making us/that vehicle move to do good work. If we are like a vehicle, God is the manufacturer. It is His Spirit which fuels us to do His good works. It is His engineering in having Christ be our heart and the motor of our vehicle/vessel.

Beyond Words

Clues go beyond matching specific words.

The Mystery is like a puzzle, while at the same time it is not.

Revelation isn't realized by connecting dots. It is a gift, like faith.

- -

Who has done this and carried it through, calling forth the generations from the beginning?
I, the Lord—with the first of them and with the last—I Am He.”

- Isaiah 41: 4

So Yeshua said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I Am He and that I do nothing on My own but speak just what the Father has taught Me.

- John 8: 28

- -

You who bring good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain.
You who bring good news to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with a shout,
lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, “Here is your God!”

- Isaiah 40: 9

John testified concerning Him. He cried out, saying, “This is the One I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because He was before me.’” Out of His fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Yeshua Christ. No one has ever seen God, but the One and only Son, who is Himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made Him known.

- John 1: 15-18

- -

So do not fear, for I Am with you; do not be dismayed, for I Am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

- Isaiah 41: 10

But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God.”
They all asked, “Are you then the Son of God?”
He replied, “You say that I Am.”

- Luke 22: 69-70

View From The Center

For some, you reap what you sow.

For others, ying accompanies yang.

For others, karma.

For others, every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Either way you'd put it, we see this idea in play.

We see in life what these terms define and identify.

For some it is order out of chaos.

For others, it is predestination.

For others, all things happen for a reason.

We can argue about whether there is purpose in the world, yet we see the distance civilization has come throughout history.

From tribal warfare the world over, to law and order being the direction the pendulum is swinging.

Regardless of your perspective and your level of pessimism as to optimism, the world has been moving in a particular direction: law and order.

We see the consolidation of cultures, societies, nations, ideas and religions happening throughout time.

We see the aim of men is to bring all things under one rule.

Some see this as sinister, but it somehow exists and is a major collective ambition of mankind.

I used to see it problematic.

I was confused.

Despite folks not perceiving future events, in hindsight one can determine how in fact certain things had or had not worked out in their lives.

We can actually see God's hand and how He weaves the fabric of our lives.

For others, they count the mistakes and how one thing led to another.

However, if one chooses to see their life in the way of hope, they may lean more towards the manner in which certain things were either removed or brought to them for their own good.

Our immediate circumstance, however pleasant or unpleasant, is occurring for a reason.

There is something to learn.

The lesson may be us needing to make adjustments to our attitude.

The Races Are Won/One

Homogeny

noun

Similarity of structure between organs or parts, possibly of dissimilar function, that are related by common descent.

Science acknowledges that mankind sprouted from a particular matriarchal source. We have a common mother. For bible believers, this is evident in Noah's testimony. This blog's writer doesn't need secular citations to validate faith. This information simply compliments the debate, allowing parties to agree we are all factually family. Religious and secular racists lose.

I grew up in a homogenous subculture, heavily influenced by a Spanish population. Most kids looked like me. I remember seeing a pair of black girls attending my primary school for a short time. Sadly, they didn't last long. I never met nor spoke with them, they were in another class. After six years of private school, I entered public primary school having a wider ethnic variety. Entering secondary school in another state, I was again in a homogenous demographic. Very much unlike my upbringing. I had my first taste of racism. It wasn't so much the terms but the hate behind the words which enraged my heart.

Entering college, I made it a point to befriend black people. I grew up hearing racial epitaphs towards them. I knew in my heart this was wrong. I forced myself to not only make black friends, but all types. Gay people included. Not every interaction with anyone was perfect. But I was a hippie. My long hair, clothes and music playing was part of that time's identity. Dead was my pride in my particular ethnicity. Not because I couldn't be proud of it. I wasn't confined nor compelled to identify with any particular fold. I was making choices.

In due time, when I was born again and started life anew, I chose God's identity. He made me His son.

Living Water

A friend recently asked me two questions:

How do I know I'll make it to heaven?

What do I need to do?

My response:

He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

They replied, “Believe in the Lord Yeshua, and you will be saved—you and your household.” Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized. The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole household.

- Acts 16: 30-34

“Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Yeshua, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”

When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”

Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the Name of Yeshua Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

- Acts 2: 36-39

This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence: If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and He knows everything. Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from Him anything we ask, because we keep His commands and do what pleases Him. And this is His command: to believe in the Name of His Son, Yeshua Christ, and to love one another as He commanded us. The one who keeps God’s commands lives in Him, and He in them. And this is how we know that He lives in us: We know it by the Spirit He gave us.

- 1 John 3: 19-24

Let Your Pride Subside

The following is for those claiming to know God as revealed in Yeshua the Messiah:

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Yeshua, who gave Himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time. And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle - I am telling the truth, I am not lying - and a true and faithful teacher of the Gentiles. Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing.

- 1 Timothy 2: 1-8

What does God desire for all men?

Who did Yeshua die for?

Why do denominations bicker over interpretation instead of obeying the message?

Have they forgotten the following?

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

- Ephesians 4: 2-6

Is your religious organization the 'one' body of Christ?

Do you believe this because of its name, or because its doctrine says so?

What about the 'church' across the street, those you were told are wrong because of their doctrine?

Are you able to 'see' the Spirit in others?

Be one as He is One!

Please cease your division and following of men's opinions.

The Path To The Mountaintop Is Past The Hills And Dips

I saw a familiar person doing a familiar thing yesterday. I first saw this young man on the bus months ago. He had a huge welt on his forehead. He was acting quite silly and I thought he was mentally special. After some time I could see he was under the influence. Second time I saw him was again on the bus and again with another injury to his head. This time I had to ask.

He said he huffs, both times falling to the ground after taking a 'hit' of the 'drug.' It's not really a drug as we've come to understand them. But the result is the same: killing brain cells. I've had my time 'experimenting' and killing brain cells by the millions I'm sure, but God was and has been gracious despite my self-destruction.

The young man tells me how his 'friends' took his jewelry and cell phone last time he passed out. I told them they do not sound like friends. He thought about it.

Prior to yesterday I saw him urinating in some bushes. He had a spray can in hand, inhaling in between breaths.

So yesterday, I see him halfway passed out sitting against a wall outside a shopping center. People are walking by somewhat concerned and disgusted. He is putting the spray can to his mouth without moving anything else. I watch for a moment. I continue on my walk for a few steps, praying in my heart as I have times before, but this time I thought about speaking to him again. I walk over, tap him on the shoulder and he doesn't respond. He's completely out. I grab the bottle from his hand, look for a trash can, and throw it away. I committed a misdemeanor, may he forgive me. Sorry.

We're Related?

There is a single human race (science now saying all share a common maternal ancestor, Scripture declaring all are descended from Noah and his wife), but men have been taught that people are different, even going so far to name different 'races,' dividing people into categories.

Haven't you communicated with someone of another 'race' (ethnic background) and have both understood one another? And I don't mean in terms of being able to find the bathroom, I mean sharing a smile or a laugh together. You shared a moment that transcends the perceived division between you.

This type of 'breakthrough' happens between classes of people too. When the rich man realizes the poor man is just as happy, if not more fortunate, than he is with all his wealth and all his material possessions.

This is also possible between people of various religious affiliations. But in order to experience this, one has to be humble and not judgmental. This is very hard for those of us who've had the upbringing that condemns all others while justifies the group of origin.

So, if we are truly all children of Noah and descendants of that single maternal ancestor, then when we judge, or condemn, or point at someone attempting to make them lower than us, we are in fact humiliating our relative, our brother/sister, our distant cousin, our fellow tribesman.

Truth be told, we surely are in a 'race' of sorts, but not like the world would have you believe (according to material possessions or worldly accolades).

Run the race that really matters (spiritual race) in order to win the prize of eternal life. As it is written: the first will be last and the last will be first.

All of you are free to be ahead of me if you'd like ;)

Piercing Dividing Walls

For quite some time I was motivated by fear. Fear of going to hell. My obedience was fashioned after what men taught in an attempt to stave off torment. I learned this from the religious who were accustomed to following doctrines of men instead of their heart as it reflected the Spirit's teaching.

I was taught that since I wasn't doing certain things, or believing certain things, I was guaranteed hellfire for my disobedience or my lack of knowledge! Does this sound familiar to you? This disobedience wasn't about righteousness (the Beatitudes). It was about not doing what the clergy would do. Without getting bogged down into doctrines and semantics, let it be clearly stated that God is the Author of our lives. He knows the set times for us to do the good works He has planned for us. Let us remember the lesson taught to Nicodemus by the Lord regarding being born of the Spirit. Let us also know we are different parts of one body and not all are teachers.

As time went on, I began to distinguish the teachings of men and God's Way. By His hand and His will, I found myself seeking His face, His kingdom, His Way, His Word, His Life and His Truth. I realized that LOVE was the message and LOVE the initial motivation to do anything good.

Over the centuries, men of various groups perverted the message into a "glass half empty" gospel unless we do what they ask of us. But with God, my cup runs over (not in the material sense). His love, grace, mercy and daily proofs motivate me to exemplify Him in my life, willing me to lay my life down without fear.

Gather according to the milk in the Gospel, not becoming divided over meat.

Doggie See Doggie Do

God created each and every animal for a more profound purpose than to simply fill the earth with life. Have you ever realized how the bee is necessary for life to continue? The bee is key in the building blocks of life on the planet! Look at the variety of animals and attributes they exude. The manner in which they all work together according to some unseen program. We have a great classroom when looking at the earth's animals. We can learn what God teaches mankind through His creation. There are great examples of cooperation, peaceful existence and order in the animal kingdom. The manner that life thrives on the earth on its own is amazing!

Have you considered the relation some animals have to humans? Take for instance the dog. Ever notice how a dog doesn't judge their owner according to the owner's skin color, or ethnic background, or wealth, or religion, or the kind of car they drive, or the clothes they wear, or even the quality of food the dog is fed? The dog is incapable of judgment. Dogs are not prejudice! However, since dogs can be trained, some are trained to attack certain types of people. Attack methods are taught to the animal like the commands to “sit” and “stay” are also taught.

If only mankind can be more like a dog in the positive attributes. The dog naturally responds to the human's love, care and affection. Consider how a dog responds its owner next time you consider passing judgment on a stranger according to their looks, their heritage, their religion, their economic standing or the clothes they wear.

The dog that is loved loves in return. The dog that is abused abuses in return.

Let us all choose to love instead of abuse one another.

Going My Way?

With any given subject, many can be the points of disagreement.

Regarding the subject of faith (what is confused as religion), wouldn't it be wiser to find what the agreeable points are? Building on unity can form the basis of seeing one another according to our likenesses, not our differences. Considering others better, disagreeable issues can be seen as less of a divisive issue, and more as details not having a basis when choosing to live at peace. Opposing views do not have to agree on all points, but can agree to love, respect and honor one another.

Regarding the subject of politics (what is really the management of people and resources), wouldn't it be wiser to identify the hired hand from the people's servant? Is it not clear in the manner the subjects are treated and addressed? Defining what an honorable leader/representative/shepherd of the people is, the actions (not the words) of a person hired to produce economic results rather than the person who is responsible with ensuring a flourishing populace can be realized.

Regarding the subject of relationships (some of which exist by necessity, others naturally), wouldn't it be wiser to build equitable friendships? Befriending people of different religions, different political parties, different economic circles, different classes would by default build equitable community. In the effort to be equitable, the goal would be to integrate all people's participation and accept them as they are, not as one would wish them to be.

The effort to make all people equal is an aim, but is not a reality according to the order the world has always seen nor the definition men have of equality. Equal treatment is the noble concern, and this is possible and evidenced in eras past. Equal justice is the expression. Equal love is the calling.

Divided By Ideas And Opinions

Does the information you believe/know make you righteous?

Isn't what you think, say and do unto others what defines you as righteous?

People are called to view the world through God's eyes, yet people cannot help but see through their eyes of flesh.

Some proclaim God according to mountains of intricate information.  If that information doesn't circumcise the heart to love others (even those labeled your enemy), that information doesn't measure to a hill of beans! It would be better to simply know you must love God above yourself and love others as if they were yourself and know not a single thing more!

Many are the opinions of men who have attempted to decipher that which only God reveals to the heart. Many are the opinions which claim “this is what the meaning really is” and few are the people actually living out the message. It is by your actions people will know you, not by your words. It is by your life that witnesses recognize the Spirit within you, not your many words or critical explanations of the mysterious.

Each individual is a work in progress. Remove yourself from seeing division among the people of earth. How can you pass judgment on someone not having the ability to see their heart? Only God sees the heart. He is the author of our being.

Correcting misconceptions is not judgment. You could get an idea of where someone is at any point in their lives according to their words and their actions. However, again, they are a work in progress.

Today's sinner may become tomorrow's saint. And the one believed to be saintly today, could become the most vile person tomorrow. But God's grace is over all. God's grace teaches men to live at peace with everyone.

A Lesson From Uncle Pancho

My uncle would tell me he had a single 'toy' growing up; an old broom. He would pretend this broom to be a horse and several other things. He made the most of what he had. I don't recall this story being recalled in bitterness or resentment. More as a matter of fact. I don't remember the context, but I guess it was because I had an abundance of toys, always wanted more and becoming disappointed when I wouldn't get the next cool thing a television commercial or a friend would show me.

I appreciate now what I think my uncle was telling me; make the most of what you do have. He didn't have a 'toy' product made exclusively for a specific purpose, like the model train set or remote controlled cars I had. There was no such thing as remote control cars on my uncle's conscience. He couldn't possibly desire one. He had seen trains, possibly ridden them, but I am not sure he ever saw a small scale toy train set. He had seen horses, people riding horses. He wanted to ride a horse too. He made the best of that old broom to facilitate his desire.

Nearing my 40th year of existence on this plane, I am learning more the meaning of making the most of what one has, where one is, and every moment in life. Is it a great crime or sad circumstance not having the things any of us did not have growing up? I practically had all the toys I desired, still wanting more. Measuring joy and happiness according to what one possesses, one could miss out on the subtleties that life teaches, the imagination's exploration, the sharing of things. My uncle says he was happy trotting around with that old broom.

Embracing Humanity's Likeness

As a child, I loved watching animal documentaries on PBS or some television channel (this was before cable/internet television). Growing up in a metropolis, nature was the few trees and bushes in the yard, few types of birds and of course our pets.

I'd been eyeing/eying a BBC nature production that was released some years ago, waiting for a lower price. I was thrilled to pay 1/3rd the original price.

I found something quite insightful viewing one of these episodes recently.

The snow leopard in the mountains between Afghanistan and Pakistan stretches much the same as the domestic house cat and the fearsome lion of the Sahara; forelegs out while curling the back, then hind legs out while elongating the back. You're thinking “of course you silly goose, they both belong to the animal family Felidae!”

No big deal, right?

Well, what I found more insightful was the manner every person participating in the expedition looking for the evasive snow leopard were thrilled when finding this creature. Weeks went by without a glimpse or trace. The effort to catch a glimpse of this elusive animal was suspended when a military effort searching for insurgents closed those mountains to everyone other than news and military personnel. After the 'war effort,' it was quite pleasant to see both the British videographers as well as the local scouts celebrating the find of this feline. The local tribesman, in unique attire, likely having different views, had smiles expressing joy the same as the visiting westerners. Religious and cultural differences aside, they all achieved a collective goal.

Humans on all corners of the world, just like the cats in all places of the world, share the same characteristics, mannerisms and attributes despite the minor exterior and lifestyle differences due to their surroundings and history.

Independent, Interdependent Or Unaware?

What does the term independence / independent mean?

1. The state or quality of being independent.

2. Archaic: Sufficient income for comfortable self-support; a competence.

May I ask: are you truly “independent”?

Do you grow your own food, author and seal your own documents / contracts / agreements / treaties / proclamations?

Are you not factually interdependent; dependent on employers, systems of government and many other human beings in order to feed, house, clothe and support yourself?

Here is a list of over 180 countries who believe themselves to be independent in some way and celebrate an independence day. Some go back a thousand years, but the reader of history can see that the pursuit of independent's idea going back further.

Didn't real independence day manifested when Yeshua was raised from the dead over 2,000 years ago?

In a short time thereafter the fire-works manifested themselves when His Holy Spirit fell upon His disciples.

Yeshua proclaimed an independence aside from citizenship status of that time's empire.

He showed peace is independent of outer exploits, but realized through the inner dialogue between your heart and His Spirit.

Religiously speaking, He is the high priest the believer answers to beyond men in flowing robes.

Politically speaking, He is the King which holds absolute temporal authority besides those who make themselves kings.

Spiritually speaking, He lives forever despite His flesh being destroyed; thus proving that the flesh is transitory while the spirit lives forever.

We see Yeshua proclaimed the Way to worship God, teaching close communion and an everlasting relationship with the Father.

What Yeshua introduced was the Holy Spirit, and with this the realm of the unseen among the seen.

Isn't the freedom celebrated Today the freedom proclaimed in the Gospel and lived out by its adherents all over the known world?

Children Follow Patterns

At what age does a child learn about the ideas which separate them from other children?

When a child hears a lie for the first time, are they able to distinguish that lie from the truth?

If you and I were children once again, knowing nothing of indifference, would we play together?

Do children yet unable to speak, coming from various backgrounds (religious/ethnic/political), know enough to point out these external differences?

Recalling the lyrics of some of your favorite music from your immature years, will you quote such verses to a room full of children today?

Why is it that before children some adults are very careful of their thoughts, their words and their actions while other adults seem to have no fear of consequences or such conscientiousness?

Why are the simple conversations of children so touching to the soul?

He called a little child to Him, and placed the child among them. And He said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in My Name welcomes Me.

If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in Me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!

- Matthew 18: 2-7

Will you raise your children according to your fears, prejudices, ideologies and exclusive traditions... or according to the eternal definition of love?

Become like innocent children while raising innocent children.

I Talk To Angels

Have you ever 'heard' a timely message from an unlikely source, possibly hearing something that touched your heart?

I have learned that one can 'hear' a blessed message from the most unlikely of people. I suggest that we not automatically be quick to think that the person who looks homeless has nothing good to share with you or has nothing of value to say, even among words sounding gibberish. I also suggest we not automatically admire too highly the opinions of those who look successful and seem to be masters of their domain, even among polished words sounding like gospel. We never know who in fact we are standing before. We may never see what is really happening around us. If we listen closely, we may catch a glimpse of a timely message; we may be able to realize the hand of God working on our behalf. This, I suggest, is how we should approach every person we come across in life.

Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.

- Hebrews 13: 2

There are accounts of angels being both seen and unseen, even unrecognizable among people.

Consider the account of Tobit, his son and Raphael. Tobit's son is sent with a hired stranger to guide the journey to a distant land. This man was seen to have eaten food, but that was an illusion to accommodate the angel's mission, keeping his true form from being revealed prematurely.

Consider the account of the two angels who defended the people and prevented the temple from being looted at the time of the Maccabees.

Consider the account also in Maccabees when two warrior angels defended the faithful and routed the enemy. The faithful never perceiving the angels!

Angels are among us.
