Children Follow Patterns

At what age does a child learn about the ideas which separate them from other children?

When a child hears a lie for the first time, are they able to distinguish that lie from the truth?

If you and I were children once again, knowing nothing of indifference, would we play together?

Do children yet unable to speak, coming from various backgrounds (religious/ethnic/political), know enough to point out these external differences?

Recalling the lyrics of some of your favorite music from your immature years, will you quote such verses to a room full of children today?

Why is it that before children some adults are very careful of their thoughts, their words and their actions while other adults seem to have no fear of consequences or such conscientiousness?

Why are the simple conversations of children so touching to the soul?


He called a little child to Him, and placed the child among them. And He said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in My Name welcomes Me.

“If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in Me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!
