God Explained To A Child

See that bird?

Notice how he flies around and eats to his delight.

He flies off again and finds food somewhere else.

It is this same way the God who made everything you see in this world has also provides for you and me.

It may seem the bird doesn’t have to do any work in order to receive the food, but it does have to fly and search.

That is part of their work.

So we also have a part in receiving what we need through work.

This is because God also is working... all the time.

Just as food is already provided to the bird, so also our needs are provided for us by the Lord through His work.

We have some work to do too.

Just like the bird who has the job of flying and searching, so also do we have work to do in order to eat.

We at least have to put food into our mouths and chew it, which is the easiest and most enjoyable part of our work.

He has done all things and continues to do all things so we may be happy and have what we need.

All the food a fish needs is found in the same stream they swim in.

Although not all the food is there at the same time, as the fish swims and looks for it, he finds enough.

The food comes from upstream.

In the same way God already has things coming to us that we might not see right now.

Some things we already have received.

Some other things are somewhere upstream making their way to us.

This is how God has plans for us and is already at work helping us grow, or learn, or bring us the good He desires for us.

Let’s take a close look at the busy bee.

God made the bee in a very interesting way.

While it is looking for its food in the nectar of flowers, it also carries with it parts of that flower to other flowers.

This is how bees help other flowers grow.

This is part of the bee's work.

I wonder if the bee knows the important job it is doing.

Humans have figured out that the bee is used to help the flowers keep growing, and the flowers are used to feed the bee.

It looks to humans the bees and the flowers somehow work together.

God has created all things on earth with a specific purpose.

He designed the flowers and the birds and the bees to work together where everyone involved prospers and is helped.

Every single thing has a job to do, and their work in at least one way (but usually more) helps other things.

Sometimes some things have more than one purpose.

Purpose usually goes beyond one specific thing when we really think about what is around us.

Just as God uses the bee to help the flower, so God uses us to help other people.

Maybe something you see today in the natural world, and that makes you smile or laugh in amazement, is God's way of comforting you.

When we look at His creation, we are able to learn a lot about Him, about ourselves, and about our important job in helping all things grow.

That is how I feel when I observe and think about God's creation.

Maybe this is one way God's bring joy and peace to you too.

Maybe God likes to show you He has done all these things with a good intention because He is also taking care of you through His creation.

This is how we can understand how much God cares about us and all of His creation.

Let’s think about the seed a farmer plants in the ground.

Although the farmer's job is to plant the ground and water it every day, they have not much else to do about how the seed begins to grow.

Somehow, the seed planted in the ground eventually sprouts out of the ground.

The seed too has a job to do.

God made the sun light to feed the plant, for it is with the light from the sun the growing plant makes food for itself from water and the minerals in the soil.

The farmer can sometimes help feed the plant with better soil, but they cannot make the plant eat or make the plant grow or make the plant make food for itself.

That is the plant's job to do.

The same way God does not make us do or decide anything.

Instead, we eventually learn what is right from wrong, better from worse, and the important role we play in the world.

God has done, and continues to do, His work.

We have our work to do, our part in the world.

God started a company a long time ago, and we are like His employees in a way.

God started a family a long time ago, and we are a part of His family.

The seed that grows into a plant and eventually provides food for you, me, and some animals, has a job only it can do.

Think about how faithfully the seed that turns into a plant does its job.

Think about how the bird, bee, fish and everything else also does its part faithfully.

In some fantastic way God has set all of these things into amazing motion.

This is how we know someone very wise and loving has created all these things.

This is how we can understand that God as created us, since all these things work together and provide us with what we need.

And we have our faithful work to do just like the bird, fish, bee, and seed.

The longer we look at creation, the more we can understand what God has done... and for what good purpose.

We realize it is out job to do what is right, and do good work.

God has made you to help others, and to help the birds, fish, bees and the seeds to do their part.

God made you to teach others how best to help all of creation, and how to best manage it according to how He has created it and designed it to work.

Just like wood from a tree can be used to build a chair to sit on, or a table to eat on, or a house to live in, so God also made us to help others learn how to best use His creation to provide for what we may need.

God also teaches us when we might be doing a bad job, or where we need to do a better job, when certain things happen in creation.

Some plants we grow, for example, after we eat certain parts of it, we can use the left over parts to make clothes for ourselves or other things... instead of throwing it away and making trash.

The seeds from these plants can also be used to make more plants like themselves, or many other things.

The more we learn about creation, the animals, the plants and trees, the insects, and even about one another, the clearer we can see how and why God is.

The more we learn about God and what He has created.

The more we can understand that everything God has made can be used for a good and useful purpose.

The more we can learn that all things God has created has a very important job to do.

No part of creation is unnecessary or without purpose, especially creations like you and me.

You, me, and the birds and the bees, all have important jobs to do... and none of us can simply be thrown away or mismanaged.
