Consuming Fire

Science teaches that particles expand and move at higher speeds when heat/temperature increases. Isn't this also the case regarding one's temperament? Blood pressure rises, capillaries dilate, and speech patterns can increase and rise in volume.

What else expands when heat is turned up?

So the Word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.

- Acts 6: 7

On that day a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. Godly men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him. But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off both men and women and put them in prison.

Those who had been scattered preached the Word wherever they went. Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah there. When the crowds heard Philip and saw the signs he performed, they all paid close attention to what he said. For with shrieks, impure spirits came out of many, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed. So there was great joy in that city.

- Acts 8: 1-8

Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the Name of the Lord Yeshua over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, “In the Name of the Yeshua whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.” Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. One day the evil spirit answered them, “Yeshua I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?” Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding.

When this became known to the Jews and Greeks living in Ephesus, they were all seized with fear, and the Name of the Lord Yeshua was held in high honor. Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed what they had done. A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas. In this way the Word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power.

- Acts 19: 13-20

God's good will and purpose comes about even in the most dire, dangerous and doubtful situations.
